Adding a Printer
Adding printers is a simple process that can be done easily by any user. You will need to have local admin rights to your computer. If during this process it asks for an administrator user/pass, please reach out to HelpDesk@northway.org IT can update your account be a local admin. You will also need to be on the same network/campus as the printer you are trying to add.
The only exception is Snoopy. This is a large, multi function printer in Wexford. This will need to be added by the IT department along with the correct printer drivers.
Apple
- Open Settings
- Click “Printers & Scanners”
- Click the Add ( + ) in lower left corner
- Choose the printer from the AirPrint printers available
- Click Add
Windows
- Open Settings => Printers and Scanners
- Press “Add a printer or scanner”
- The computer will search for all available printers on the network.
- Choose the printer you want to add based on the name ( the name of the printer should be on the printer itself)
- Click “Add Device”
- Windows will then finish adding the printer in the background
- Rename the printer
- Select the new printer just added, usually it named the same as the printer model, i.e. Brother HL-2270DW
- Click "Manage:
- Click “Printer Properties”
- Change the name at the top. We suggest the specific name of the printer and the model.
- Press “OK”
