Genetec Doors - Facility Lockdown

Overview & How-To Guidance

In line with the safety SOPs, there are safety scenarios wherein staff/volunteers need to be able to quickly lock doors (active threat, lock out, missing child/attempted abduction, etc.). To facilitate, automations have been setup so that the team can swiftly activate such a lockdown at each campus.

Watch the videos below for an explanation of the automation and step by step procedures:

  1. Lockdown Overview (link here): provides an overview of what happens when the lockdown is activated and de-activated.
    1. TL;DR - each campus has a string of automated actions that happen when a lockdown is activated/deactivated. Actions include; locking/unlocking of doors w/ badge readers, limitations to who is able to badge through during a lockdown, and a variety of notifications to key parties (both in-app notifications and emails). Lockdowns are provisioned at the CAMPUS LEVEL, so teams are only able to see/lockdown their assigned campus.
  2. Activating & Deactivating on the WEB APP (link here): provides step by step guidance on how to activate and deactivate a lockdown on the WEB APP (i.e. the interface within a web browser)
    1. TL:DR - Web app provides functionality to be able to both activate and deactivate a lockdown.
  3. Activating on the MOBILE APP (link here): provides step by step guidance on how to activate a lockdown on the MOBILE APP (i.e. when you access genetec via the app on your phone/tablet).
    1. TL:DR - Mobile only provides functionality to be able to activate a lockdown.

Testing & Recurring Maintenance

  1. Testing - If you want to test out how this process works, there is a ‘testing’ hot action assigned to your account that you can leverage. This would allow you try test out activation/de-activating without impacting the doors or sending false positive notifications.
    1. If there are other tests you want to complete - YOU NEED TO COORDINATE WITH THE DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS & SECURITY MANAGER TO AVOID ANY CONFUSION OR PANIC.
  2. Recurring Maintenance - Given notifications are being sent to specific accounts and emails, Business Operations & Campus Team need to work together to ensure the contact list remains up to date. Should there be team changes, please contact the Director of Operations or Security Manager to ensure notifications are updated.
